Picked up this bag of knives at an auction for 30 bucks today. Thought I'd share what I found.

Starting off: Got a few victorinoxes - they never go wrong. Few spartans a tinker, and climbers. Some have advertising on them but no big deal. They'll get used or given away.

Some cheap imitation multitools, trash really.

More trash multitools. The knives are razor sharp but quite dangerous how flimsy they are so probably bin most of these.

Some nice classics, #8 Opinel a languile and folding spoon with corkscrew.

A boxcutter, cheap chinese locking knife ruko and another lebendwell

Now for the good stuff. These are well used/loved vintage knives that have obviously been used. One says case xx USA and has 3 blades. (I want to try clean this one up to reuse) the other is just a basic folder but clearly quite old.

And the golden find!

A santa fe stoneworks linear lock. What I love about this is it is a stylish gentleman folder that has clearly seen some use.

Not sure what type of material the handle is made of, but love the double studs and pocket clip. A bit of lube and it opens and shuts like a dream.

Anyway, thats my bargain hunting. Been lurking here for a while but this is my first post after finally making an account. So, hello. :)

Whatever platform is hosting the original pic attempts (its a flickr account) it tried to put malware on my laptop
  • c:\programdata\appukalisov\appukalisov.exe
  • c:\programdata\appukalisov\fin-fax.dll
  • c:\programdata\appukalisov\ranklex.dll
  • c:\programdata\cloudprinter\cloudprinter.exe
were all identified with seconds of accessing the location.... a warning just in case....

I uploaded to flickr first but couldn't get it to work so then used the postimage site. Sorry, certainly not trying to infect your computers. Just showing off my find.

I live in Scotland. Which is annoying because I can't legally even carry the locking knife. It was a small town auction, Irvinevalleyauctions I think it's called. I turned up randomly to help a friend carry out a solid wooden chest they bought when the lot came up. Didn't know what was in the lot but recognised the victorinoxs and thought even if I just get them then it will be worth it.

£30 - so $39.38 plus a 20% commission - which i was a bit miffed about - I thought commission was paid by the seller. Apparently at this auction they charge the buyer and seller , so it was £36 - $47.25

The cheap multitools are good for tackle box duty if you fish.
The pliers should be good enough and if you loose it no biggie because you were going to toss it anyways.
The case stockman looks to be a good user, just use some fine steel wool and mineral oil or WD40 ( pretty sure they sell it all over the world ) to remove any red rust, then sharpen it oil the joints and drop it in your pocket.

Thanks I was wondering how I could restore that. I thought the case was wood but apparently on their site it says it could be bone. Number is 6332, I’m guessing made in the 70s but can’t count the stars until it’s cleaned. Looks like there might be at least 7 so 1973?
The sheepfoot tip has been snapped. But that just means it’s been well used. I could legally carry that here with no hassle from the old bill.

I don't fish. One is spring assisted. But tbh they feel very cheap. I'll chuck them in a drawer and might get some use out of them. Thanks for the advice.

Santa Fe Stoneworks is still in business, I was by their shop a year ago. You might try taking some good pics and asking them for more info.
