Knife bag?

Hi. I want some sort of a bag that I can use as an "emergency" type kit. I want it to hold all my knives securely(only about 5 blades) and some other stuff. (First aid, etc) I was thinking of a tac. vest, but then thought I could use an old backpack. My question is: How could I rig the inside with straps, loops, etc. to attach my knives securely inside so they don't move too much? They are large fixed blades; Strider BT, Buckmaster 184, and some others. Any ideas?

Also; I'm not concerned about "protecting" the knives too much. (Padding and stuff) Just having them inside the bag is protection enough. I just do not want them moving about so I can find them quickly. Last time I checked, striders don't exactly fall apart from a bit 'o jostling around. ;) :p

I want to spend very little, if any money, which is why I'm looking to convert a backpack. BUT, if you know of any other excellent systems that may fit my needs, PLEASE let me know!

Just looking for things I may not have thought of...

I know that guys who collect knives, often keep them in felt rolls that have ties or staps to close them (I think SMKW sells some), if these don't fit there are also rolls with different size pockets used by mechanics. Another idea is one of those fanny pack holsters that hold the gun, spare clips etc. maybe one of these could be reworked to fit your needs.
 
Converting a backpack would make sense, sew in elastic straps or velcro. Or...take a look at some of the 'gatemouth' tool bags for sale at Home Depot/Lowe's. Here are some you might consider.
 
If that's all the knives you have, a small bag will do. Check with Spark to see if there are any Bladeforums bags left. They are reasonably priced, very durable and help support the forums. If not that, try a small gun bag. You can use the magazine holder slots for knives and and have lots of room. Check with your local gun store or go to www.bagmaster.com

What is a good knife bag or knife roll for medium to large size folders? Please post urls. Thanks.
