I am asking how you first got into knife I got my first knife when i became a cubscout I was 7 (or however old you have to be to start cubscouts) it was my buck 503T (I refer to it alot in my posts) I used it to whittle wood some time later I lost the little knife i only got it back when i was 11 my dad found it in his toolbox and i have had it ever since.

When I was about 10-12, my dad gave me this Browning.
I can't even tell you the model #. I've had the knife bug
every since then. I'm 39 now and have a son who is well
on his way into the knife world.

My first was A Victorinox classic I got for Christmas when I was around 7 I guess. Of course it wasn't big enough to do the things kids like to do w/ knives. I was fortunate to live about an hour away from SMKW. I remember making my first personal knife purchase there, a Red Ryder that was a Swiss army knock-off that was completely rusted in about 2 months time. Ever since then I haven't bought any junk knives myself. It's hard to take my son there and watch him buy crap from United or all the other mall ninja crap for $20.00 or less.

My first knife was a small Case XX given to me by my father. Not sure whatever happened to it, but I now have my Dad's Case XX 3 blade knife. I don't recall how old I was, but I'm guessing around 6 or 7. Since that age, I've rarely been without at least one knife in my pocket (usuall 2-3).

My first knife was given to me by my father, it was a Imperial Double Eagle lockback with wood handle, and a thin blade, with brass bolsters. I still have it.

My father let me have an old carbon steel folder to carry in my pocket when I was about 8. That would have been about 1960. Been adicted in one way or another since.

I do not know when it all began for me but I just like guy stuff.... fast cars, guns, n' knives... and women of course! :D

I was in the Indian Guides, then the Scouts, and went to Life Scout. Not once was I without a knife. My father was fond of fishing and carving knives. We are still finding them in his home, stored in different places, to this day.

Cubs it was a Swiss Army Knife, then my elderly neighbour gave me a G Wostenhelm & Sons skinner form England.

I first got into knives when I heard about all the school shootings going around universities. I started carrying my 35¢ china town folding knife. I decided that it was stupid, so I started carrying my SAK. I decided that was too slow, so I started carrying a Gerber Paraframe II. I decided that had a bad handle, so I started carrying a Smith & Wesson Special Tactical. I liked that knife; it was fast and had a good handle.

I later decided that the quality was rather low (I read about blade play, steels, and the like). This was about the time I started looking at actual knife stores and found this forum. It was also about the time I decided to carry a knife less for defense and more for "EDC."

Then I bought my first two good knives: Delica and Ti-Lite, and I shop shop shop ever since.

I was around 6 when a sweet old lady gave me a wee little pen knife with mother of pearl scales. It had a very dull, crooked blade and I carried it everywhere. I still have the 1st knife I ever purchased...a Buck Cadet around 35 yrs ago. I think I was 8. I can still remember the ad in Outdoor Life magazine; A drawing of a ranch-hand using the knife with a boy looking on. I was one happy camper when I finally had saved enough to bring it home. :D
