Knife Belt Sander / Buffer for only $ 323.00 W/shipping

Tayous,

keep your eye on them and be patient as they frequently go on sale. I bought mine for $275 over the summer.

Rob,

What are you doin' buying a griz? You make one of the best looking grinders on the market. I have been saving up and hope to get a 10 inch model from you. You don't make them with a c face motor mount do you? Like on the Leeson dc motors. You know with a direct motor drive.

Hi Tony,
Yes, I bought a griz! I wanted to benchmark it for the simple fact that they seem to be one of the most popular grinders on the boards. Also, I wanted to investigate possible enhancements for them as well.

I'm impressed! The only complaint from me about the design is that it offers very little for speed choices without rebuilding/redesigning the chassis. For me, it runs way too fast from the factory with an 8" contact wheel. I've supplied several 4 inch dia "slow down wheels" for the drive wheel which tames the beast for platen grinding but requires a setup change-over. A small fix for platen work, but no help for hollow grinding.

...which is one of the main reasons I did not design the KMG1 with direct drive. Even though it is more simple in design (and less costly), it limits your motor choices and variable speed options. If your c-face motor has a foot mount bracket, then you can use it on the KMG1. I have a demo model with a leeson DC motor, c-face, foot mount. I'll have it under power on display at the Greater Ohio Valley Knife show next weekend (Nov 9-10).

Take care,
Rob
