Does anyone know where I can pick up a good carbon steel knife blank that would be a decent bushcraft knife?

All I seem to find are stainless steel knives and patterns I wouldn't find useful for wilderness tasks.

Thanks!

eBay, two finger knives has some. I got a few from makers on the forum. $30-$50 and were well made.

+ 1 on the Green River suggestion, although the new blades have moved away from straight 1095. It is pretty easy to change the shape of the blade to something you find more suitable. Second hand stores might have something for you to work with. Lot of Old Hickory setting around, just look for the rusty and corroded knives:) Remember, most of these knives can be had in the $10 - $20 range new.

got a drawing of what you have in mind? do you want it heat treated already or are you going to start from grinding the bevels and all yourself?

Blades are posted in the For Sale: Knifemaking Supplies & Tools forum. You could check there to see what has been available in the past and what is currently available. You might contact one of the knifemakers, that make a pattern that you are interested in to get a quote on an unmarked blade. There have also been a number of threads in the past regarding modifications to the Old Hickory and Green River knives.
