I got to confess this. For some reason I almost always save the box a new knife comes in. I don't really know why I do it, I just do. Well they are really starting to pile up. I don't want to throw them out, but can't think of a reason to keep them. I even save all the paper work and sometimes the recept. I need someone to lead me strait on this.

Here is an idea for you.....sell them as a lot on E-Bay.

People who buy knives that are new with no boxes are sometimes looking for boxes for those knives just in case they want to sell the knife down the road.

I have seen auctions like that before....might be worth a shot. They never made a killing on it, but enough.....

Won't be me...I do the same thing. I have a cabinet filled with boxes and paperwork from all of my knives and flashlights. Part of it is because I'm a pack rat, and the other part of me keeps it for "collector value."

If you ever decide to sell or trade the knives, it's nice to have the box they came in - makes packing a bit easier and the recipient usually appreciates getting the box. If you've got room, keep the boxes. If you don't, you can usually open the ends of the box and squish the box flat for storage.

DON'T throw away your boxes !!!

They're part of the history of your knives, and will add value to them if you would want to sell in the future. ;)

I save the paperwork, especially receipts for just about everything of value that I buy. You never know when you'll need it. Because I saved all the receipts for the accessories I got for my mountain bike, I was able to collect insurance on every last bit when some scumbag stole it. Tomarrow you might find your house burglarized and he found your knife collection. No receipts? No love from the insurance company.

I also keep my boxes, in preparation for the day that I wake up to the fact that I don't really need all 30 knives and decide to sell some of them.

So far everyone is pointing in the direction of keeping them. Which is really what I want to do. I hadn't thought of future collector value.
Would't it be cool to be watching "Antiques Roadshow" 50 years from now and see a Cuda Maxx, BM Skirmish, Spyderco ATR, etc and know you have one just like it with the box.

I always save the box and papers. I think they are worth a little extra with the box and papers.
