Knife Boxes??

Hi Guys.

I am looking for a box type thing to keep my small knife collection in. Not a safe, just a cheap container to hold them rather than have them spread all over my room. Any suddestion? It will have to hold everything from small folders to 9" bladed fixed blades.

How many knives do you have?

I use a steamer trunk with smaller assorted boxes inside for 'organizing' the knives. I also have room to keep all of the original boxes and factory papers that come with the knives.

Something like a china cabinet would be a good display case. I've also seen rotating Timex watch store display cases with lights for sale. Not very classy, but would hold a lot of knives.

I've been working out in my head a china-cabinet-type piece of furniture where the large upper display would close and lock, and below would be felt-lined glass-topped drawers.

Depending on size of collection check around for a Pelican case. These are foam lined and will seal out moisture (I think) and come in a variety of sizes.
 
I use a large tackle-box that I bought at the local sporting goods store. They come in lots of different sizes and configurations. I took a quick look at the number of knives and sizes, and then spent some time at the store. I bought one I can put all my knives in and my sharpening gear. Ended up with a bigger box than I would have thought, but it's nice to have it all in one place.
 
My wife bought me a small plastic file folder type drawer set-up (less than $10 at Wal-Mart). It has three drawers that are about 12" by 20" or so, and 4" deep. I keep all my sharp stuff in there. It can be lined with felt, or left as is. Most of my knives are EDC types, so I don't worry about them knocking together too much.

I have a felt lined "treasure chest" that I keep the pretty ones in, and they remain in their boxes.

I'm not one to display my knives in the open, since I have 3 kids under the age of 6. Some day I may get a glass-topped case to show off the pretty ones.
