Knife buying rituals

I have a process I go through every time I buy knives online.

first I decide on a price bracket I don't want to go over, then I go on my fave knife sites and put together a basket of all the knives I want, then go to my cart and eliminate knives from it until its within my price bracket. I do this over and over again in my spare time for a month or two until i notice a pattern in what knives are in the final basket. then I check for reviews on the finalists, if any got a bad review I replace them with a runner up. then order and wait.

anyone else have a distinct process like this one?

Nope, I save, find something I'm fairly sure I'll like, then buy it.

I don't buy used knives. Too many knobs out there who think a knife should be indestructable.

Check the For sale by Dealer section here and the new arrivals section of the four sites I buy from. If I see something that I want, buy it before it's out of stock. That method worked for two tilts, 551, and a orange manix in the last month.

Click "Add To Cart"

Then, I click "Checkout"

Then, I follow the directions on the screen.

Not much of a shopper, more like a knife buying whore, really.

I keep an ongoing short list of knives that I'm digging. Right now I'm sorta into the Spyderco Vallotton and Emerson CQC-13. I look for the lowest price, which usually comes from ebay or Amazon, though it is often one of BF's fine vendors who have gotten many orders from me. When the spirit hits me, I pull the trigger.

Mine is sorta like this. I keep a list of different types of knives that I really like (the list has a LOT more knives than I actually own on it) and look around the web to see the going price for these. I wait for a month or two and check the cheapest sites, like the ones above, about every three or four days to see if there is a sale on them. Then I pounce when I feel like I'm getting my money's worth!

This is really helpful because it allows me to think about whether I would actually enjoy the knife or not instead of IMPULSE buying it on the spot. Although impulses might be pretty fun to follow...
