I have a wenger knife display cabinet. The plexiglass didn't make it through shipping. I looked into trying to replace it and it is too expensive so... I want to just make due and glue the pieces back in. Any suggestions on an adhesive that will not react in a bad way with the knives that will be in the cabinet?

Plexiglas can be solvent welded with methylene chloride, which is corrosive until it gasses off, which takes only minutes. You can also buy a thickened glue which is basically acrylic dissolved in methylene chloride. Empty the cabinet first and glue, then refill it in an hour with your collection.

Thanks for the response Bill. Any recommendations on where to find the above?

If there is a Home Depot around you they may carry plexiglass sheets. I know the one by my house does because I just bought some to make a vacuum chamber out of. You could buy a piece from there and cut it to shape.

Any hardware storethat is even moderately well stocked will carry plexiglass/Lexan. Take a fragment so they can match the thickness and that is it.

Thanks everyone. The cabinet plexiglass is curved. I talk to a prominant glass replace/sales store and they said it was factory and they didn't have the type of equipment to replace the plexiglass. Looks like an adhesive of the above type is going to be my best bet.
