Are these collectible knives or using knives? Any exotic materials?

Four products I suggest are:

Goof-Off (available at grocery and hardware stores) which is just Xylene and is good for removing tape scum and stuff from blades. Be careful as it will attack some materials.

Flitz polish good for removing rust and stains from steel.

Ren Wax good for rust prevention.

Militec-1 to lubricate folding knives.

Lots of different products available and browsing the older forum topics will give you more info than I can provide.

But here are a few suggestions, depending on the knife's needs:
- RenWax. Seems a lot of people use this as a semi-permanent coating for long-term curation
- AG Russell sells a product called "RustFree". It's a silicone product, and I use it myself.
- mineral oil. Sold as a poo-helper in pharmacies, it's a good all-around lubricant and rust preventer
- I've bought military surplus items that have been stored in Cosmoline for decades and look brand new. It's thick and gooey, like Vaseline, but it sure seems to work.
- 3-In-One oil would be a good lubricant for moving parts

For removing light rust I use WD40. Spray it one, let it sit, and rub it off.

Good Luck,
Bob

I have a thing about keeping knives and multi's clean and well lubed. For cleaning I have simichrome polish and brasso. Three-in-one or light oil does the trick for lubrication. Gollnick mentioned Goof-off for removing tape gum...great stuff to have on hand. Always have plenty of cleaning rags on hand and don't let the dirty oily rags become a fire hazard
