A newbie question here:
I just started collecting knives and I pulled the trigger on a Strider SNG GG 3/4 grind Tanto with a stonewashed blade from TNK.
I plan to use the heck out of this knife do to the cost.
What are some things I should do for cleaning and proper care? I have read most people dont oil striders and they run them dry. What about blade care? If I use the knife and it gets wet or I wash it, do I need to oil the blade (if so whats the best type). I have read for sharpening that richard j on here is the man. So any advice on cleaning and proper care would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Strider recommends not taking the knife apart, and just using WD-40 and wipe all excess off.

If you have the tigerstripe blade - keep it oiled or consider putting a little wax on it from time to time. The part of the stripe that is bead blasted develops small depressions where moisture can collect. Of course - if you use it regularly this will keep the moisture from collecting. Edit - sorry I just saw you got the stonewashed blade. I use 3:1 oil on my blades.

As far as the titanium - it really doesn't need cleaning, but you can wipe it down with windex to clean it.

The G10 can be wiped down with a little oil to bring back the shine.

I do very little to my Smf - I keep a rag that is somewhat oil soaked and wipe the blade down with it after use.

Enjoy your Strider!! They are meant to be used.

Post some pics and thoughts after you have had a chance to use it - I personally like hearing from others about their Strider experiences.

Will do. I got it in ranger green as well. I wanted to buy used but TNK had exactly what I wanted so why not.

Personally - I am getting leery of buying used. It seems like more and more people are flipping knives, and you never know exactly what you are getting sometimes.

If I really want a model - I will pay retail for the privilege of knowing that I was the first owner.

Also - kudos to knifeart.com - check out their "Buyers Guide" at the bottom of their Strider page.

some kind of graphite based dry lube is all i ever put onto folding knives pivots.

blades and other bare metal surfaces can get wiped down with a Tuff Cloth or similar.
