I am going to the UP area of Michigan can anyone give me Michigan knife carry laws in a nutshell. The search function is down, otherwise I could look it up.

Hey, I am sure you can carry anything with less than a 4" blade, excluding automatic and gravity kinves of course. If you don't give the PO a reason to search you they won't find your knife.

Later On

The MI. law is 3" for a folder. Fixed blades are illegal, except while hunting.

I have lived in the UP of Michigan, and the people of this area are realists. IMHO, I highly doubt that if you carried a knife that was 1 inch over length or whatever, that anyone would care, as long as you weren't threatening anybody with it. Most gun and knife laws were enacted in Michigan to "protect" the public from Detroit. :)
