I have a Florida Carry permit that allows me to carry a firearm in FL and various other states. Can I assume that if I can carry a firearm then I can carry any kind of knife?

No, you cannot assume that. In most states, knife and firearm restrictions are completely unrelated.

No. In some states (e.g., VA), a concealed carry permit is specific to handguns; knives are not included.

Questions regarding Florida law have been raised before.

iirc, Florida issues weapons permits and not firearms permits.

The relevant section:

-----790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--

----(1) The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is authorized to issue licenses to carry concealed weapons or concealed firearms to persons qualified as provided in this section. Each such license must bear a color photograph of the licensee. For the purposes of this section, concealed weapons or concealed firearms are defined as a handgun, electronic weapon or device, tear gas gun, knife, or billie, but the term does not include a machine gun as defined in s. 790.001(9). Such licenses shall be valid throughout the state for a period of 5 years from the date of issuance. Any person in compliance with the terms of such license may carry a concealed weapon or concealed firearm notwithstanding the provisions of s. 790.01. The licensee must carry the license, together with valid identification, at all times in which the licensee is in actual possession of a concealed weapon or firearm and must display both the license and proper identification upon demand by a law enforcement officer. Violations of the provisions of this subsection shall constitute a noncriminal violation with a penalty of $25, payable to the clerk of the court.-----

There are restrictions on where you can carry such as public buildings etc.

The agreements Florida has with other states would likely be limited by the laws of those other states.

In WA, some years ago they changed the CWP (concealed weapons permit) to a CPL (concealed pistol license) probably for that very reason.

yes, in FL, a concealed WEAPON permit does make it legal for you to conceal non-firearm weapons that are normally illegal to conceal. however, keep in mind, it does not give you the right (i hate that phrase, nobody GIVES me a right) to conceal a weapon that would be illegal to posess. example - you cannot carry a balistic knife or a SB shotty. the second half is pretty much common sense, but i had to add it cause you just never know lol

Here in TX a concealed handgun license has nothing to do with blades. TX defines illegal knives in its penal code. I can't carry a concealed handgun into my son's school but a pocket knife is fine as I am not the student.
