Does anyone know the laws about what is legal to carry in your pocket in Jamaica?
I could not find a thing on a Google search.
Thanks as always.

I wouldn't carry anything more than a SAK. It is all that a tourist needs. If you are going to Sandals or another of those tourist-resort-package-deals, you need not worry about security. These places are as secure as fortresses, with high walls, locked gates, and shotgun-carrying guards. They have their own private beaches as well. If venturing outside, do so as part of a guided tour only. A few years back, a couple of foreign tourists got murdered (throats slit, ear-to-ear) by the natives when caught alone outside after dark. The country has strict laws against weapons, be they firearms or edged weapons. The police are in a war with heavily-armed criminals and have no patience at all for people bringing more weapons into the country. The police are so paranoid that they accidentally fired at Jimmy Buffet's plane, thinking that he was a drug smuggler. Stay at the resorts, follow the security precautions that they suggest and the only thing that you might have to worry about is a bad case of sunburn!

I'm planning a trip to Jamaica and wasn't sure if anyone has any other experiences since the thread was started in 2009. I tried a general google search and got some mixed results. I've carried a dragonfly to the Dominican Republic and feel like I could have carried a Pacific Salt no problem but it seems like Jamaica is more strict with knives and "weapons" in general. Would a dragonfly be okay in Jamaica? I'd prefer to have a blade on me but also don't want to get one confiscated. I'm assuming a SAK is a swiss army knife? Thanks in advance.

Yes, SAK is Swiss Army knife. Personally, an SAK is the only type of knife I would pack for any international trip. I wouldn't take any type of locking folder, just to be safe. I don't know about Jamaica, but in some places, carrying any type of locking knife is prohibited, no matter how small.

And remember that conditions can change quickly ! Acapulco once a great vacation place is now so violent [gang wars ,high crime ] just stay out !!

Sak is all you need,if you go out of tourist areas at night and someone wants to rob you tactical folder will not help you!!!Knife against gun is a poor choice.
