Knife Carry Laws in Nepal

Uncle Bill,

As knife carry laws continue to be a source of continuous discussion here on BladeForums, I couldn't help but wonder what the knife carry laws are in Nepal. Are they different for Westerners and Nepalis? If I were to wear an HI khukuri on my belt in Kathmandu, would I be stopped by the local authorities?

Harry, Nepal is changing in its politics and resulting laws but as far as I know there are no knife carry laws on the books at present. If you carried a khukuri on your belt or a thee around your neck on the streets of Kathmandu I don't think anybody would say anything. Outside the Kathmandu Valley it is certain nobody would even look twice.
