So today I got an opportunity to put my new Large Sebenza 21 sharpended at 36 degrees inclusive (S35VN 59-60 RC) through the ringer, as with my profession a EDC task I ask of most my knives are to only cut the sheathing off of some romex ( not to say it's a super easy task but it doesn't really demand much from a well sharpened edge).
Today's project was to replace the service riser (to Florida Power and Light) along we all 4 meter cans that fed the building, along with (2) disconnects for sub panels (150A and 200A).
This entails me to cut various insulations of off some 1/0-3/0 cu (fairly big wire, nothing crazy big like 300-500kcmil, but decently sized.)
When I came home I quickly tested edge retention with some notebook paper as I don't own a phone book because I'm not 83, the knife push cut the notebook paper easily, not flawlessly but I didn't have to help it at all.
All in all I feel like the Sebenza held up well in what I would deem as a heavier EDC role given my profession.
I would love to hear similar stories from the BF community expressing how your knife might have impressed you in the EDC task you might have been given at hand, how did it handle? Do you wish something was different about the knife? Or did you simply carry the WRONG knife for the task and you were cursing yourself for not carrying something that could have made the task 10 times easier, knowing it's sitting in your nice pelican case with your other knives!
