Hello, everyone.

I recently bought a Bradley Kimura 7 (bead blasted, polished finish) off of Bladehq, at first I just ignored the "*Blemish*" warning on the description, just assuming it was just going to be a little spot of gunk on the blade or something. Nope, 7 days later, the knife gets here and it's absolutely coated in grease, fingersprints, smudges, and a bunch of little patches of sticky gunk that I can't get to come off. Naturally, my first idea was to thoroughly wash it in some warm, soapy water. That didn't do much except for make the nasty month old sushi smell on the knife go away, so I looked for some information on Google.

I couldn't really find a good consensus on grease remover/blade cleaning solutions and I've heard about this website being reputable so I figured I'd ask here. All I'm really looking for is some kind of cleaner that will eat through the grease, and other gunk built up on my new knife, whether it be a household product I could cook up in my sink or just some generic stuff on Amazon. Also, some recommendations on some polishing paste or whatever would be nice, since I assume this polished finish will come off eventually. Thanks in advance.

(Sorry if I formatted this post badly or left out some important details, I'm kinda new to knives and knife stuff in general.)

Dawn dishwashing liquid and hot, hot water are very good oil/grease eaters. When waterfowl are covered in crude oil, workers use Dawn to remove it. And though I have never tried it on knives, OxiClean will digest any organic matter, including grease and oil. I started a stupid thread not too long ago about using OxiClean to clean mini blinds. That stuff completely ate the nasty goo that accumulated. You might try Simple Green, which is an organic cleaner that some guys use on firearms too. But I bet that the Dawn, hot water and maybe a toothbrush will do the trick.

The "little patches of sticky guck" likely won't be removed w/ Dawn. GoofOff, mineral spirits/turpentine, acetone/lacquer thinner.
