Let's try to cover this:

EDC
Camp knife
Garage knife
Sharpening stone/s

And I'll agree that basic inexpensive steels are much more forgiving for sharpening and also getting a cheaper sharpening stone.

Sorry, can't stick to the exact format..
EDC: definitely a SAK for a wide spectrum of needs. I carry the Alox Minichamp rn. I also carry the Rambler, Cadet, Pioneer X, Explorer, Traveler.

Outdoors: Bark River Gunny Hunter is a safe middle of the road choice, but this can go up or down in size with the seasons - Bravo 1 LT, Aurora 2, Tundra, Mini Tundra, ULB are my choices.

Garden: Spyderco Caribbean SF SE or the Tasman Salt 2 SE.

Chopper: Condor Mini Duku or Bushcraft Parang

Garage: CRK Inkosi Insingo, but this role feels too vague, almost anything should do in a pinch.

Sharpening: only one? The Spyderco Medium ceramic benchstone or the DMT Coarse diamond plate for high carbide steels. Bark River White Compound loaded leather strops for their convex blades.

This topic has been beaten to feath several threads ago...
Next: someone will want to know which 2,3,4, or 5 knives for use when you can't use your "normal and usual" hand...

EDC: AD-10, Recon-1, ZT630 or, for lighter weight, Spyderco Pacific SALT or Endura
Camp knife: Much of this is food prep so Becker BK5, wood processing Becker BK9
Garage knife: Becker BK2, great for skinning a Buick or whatever else you dare to try.
Sharpening stone/s: Varies, bottom of a coffee cup more often than not.

For sharpening, byxco American mutt and artic fox

Edit: throw in a good flat file for the sharpening bit.

A Gossman for every hypothetical situation.

A Gossman survival tool ( honing plate )

A Worksharp field sharpener ( been using that particular one for 6.5 years - it’s great ).

Realistically - I always have a folder, small fixed and a leatherman on me. For a great portable sharpening stone - DC-4 is adequate.
