Knife companies and their gun counterparts

I've been thinking about this lately... Which knife companies are most like which gun companies? I'm talking about similar styles, intended uses, appearances, etc. These are the similar ones I've come up with so far...

Microtech and Heckler & Koch
Both companies produce extremeley high quality products. They're also both famous for "auto" versions of their products. Everyone drools over both companies products. The MP5 and the Halo series are both pretty similar. And both companies carry high prices (in my opinion).

Emerson and Glock
These are two companies known especially by their "scary" black products. They are all intended for hard use. And sheeple run at the site of both.

Buck and Ruger
Both of them are known for high quality products at a low price. They both seem to stray away from "tactical" products in favor of more traditional looking things.

Benchmade and Colt
Two well known names. They both produce a wide variety of high quality products. They're both always at the top.

I want some you to some up with your own comparisons. I particularly would like to see what CRKT and Spyderco go with. I was unable to come up with any comparisons for them.

Have you seen the new knives from Walther?

It has to be Spyderco and Glock, and I am a big fan of both. When they first came out both were radical designs which appeared quite ugly to most, but they revolutionized the way knives and guns are made. All you have to do is imagine a Buck 110 vs. a Delica, and a Colt 45 vs. a Glock 17 to see how radical a transformation they represented. Even today I think you will find a great similarity between the incredible loyalty of Spyderco and Glock owners. Sal and Gaston Glock are probably two of the most creative industrial designers in their fields.

Gotta say I'm REAL dissapointed w/ the crap that Walther is putting out. I can't immagine they'd put their names on such junk. They know better.

Yes, I have thought the same about them. Other similarities include mottos:
"In a world of compromise, some men don't" VS "The highest quality without comprimise."

Product names: SOCOM VS US SOCOM & SOCOM ELITE. It may stem from one certain pass time of one of the company owners.

I second Rick's feelings on Spyderco/Glock! I swore I would never own one of those "goofy looking knives with the hole in the blade" or a "plastic POS pistol". So here I am, an Endura in my right pocket, Delica in the left, and a G22 on my hip...never say never!

It's the ugly world of "licensing" which has brought down the reputation of many good companies. A lot of these companies don't even manufacture the products themselves. They just lend out their names as if it were going out of style and collect royalty cheques. (Sigh) When will these people learn?

I really can't comment on knives put out by Walther, Colt, Beretta, et al. since I have not handled them. However, I'll take the word of fellow forumites and accept that they are probably sub-par.

I buy knives from knife companies.

I'd have to say that CRKT goes with Kel-Tec better than Taurus. But maybe I shouldn't get into the Taurus vs. Kel-Tec fight... All Taurus did was copy the Kel-Tec and put a dinky lock on it! From what I hear, Taurus and Kel-Tec both have small fit and finish problems, but I seem to hear more about Taurus problems. And how could you go wrong with the KTOG group? OK... How about a comparison of the Kel-Tec P-32 and any of the CRKT KISS line?

I drool every time I think of the P-32.
