Gudy van Poppel and I had the pleasure to host a knife making seminar for three cool dudes. Out of a piece of O1 they forged three knives. I have pictures of two knives, the third will come soon. I think they did really well.

Steel O1 (1.2510), wood makassar ebony and a wood I don't recognize, guard made out of iron and bronze.

here are some pics:

Students and teachers can be proud of the results.

Kind regards,

Wow, fantastic! Thank you for sharing.

That's an ambitious start with those short and wide billets. And a great way to really start them on understanding how to move hot metal. I love the in progress pics.

Are the two in pic #7 and #9 brothers? They certainly look like they could be.

How did you come about having them as students?

Thanks :)

He Nick,

Yes two brothers and a friend of them followed the course. I know one of them from selfdefence and after they visited the Dutch knife show, they wanted to make a knife themselves. Gudy (the guy with the tattoos) and I offered to give the course.

I think it is importent to teach people and in the process create a bigger base of people who think positive about knives and knifemaking. Especially in times when laws are getting strikter and strikter.
