"Knife crime policies 'incoherent'" reads the headline in one article. Britain has led the way in anti-knife laws for many years and those opposed to knives in the U.S. look there as a model for them. Seems it isn't working as planned, though I don't expect the Anti's to pay any attention:

Surge in knife attacks defies anti-crime drive

· 60% rise in robberies in which a blade is used
· Expert says government campaigns are irrational

There has been a surge in knife crime over the past year including a 60% rise - 15,000 extra cases - in robberies in which a blade was used, according to a study out yesterday. The jump in the 12 months to April will alarm the home secretary, John Reid, as he struggles to restore credibility to the government's drive against crime.

Fear of knives is irrational on its own. Id rather be attacked with a knife then oh say a chair or a large stick.

The antis are just nut jobs. They will be the death of us all no exageration.

It's the PEOPLE out of control there, not the WEAPONS.

Of course WE know that, but THEY don't know it over there, because they're simply not rational.

Honestly, for every knife crime, there is not only a knife that is used, there is a person willing to commit a knife crime!

Take away the knives, and you STILL have not dealt with the fact that you have a person with the violent criminal mindset in your midst.

This is true, of course.

It is also true that government policy is incoherent.

This is the case not just about knives, but on most policy issues.

It is simply because those in politics have no understanding of the real world or sympathy with the real people - because they are professional politicians.

Most of them have not got enough brains to realise how much we hate them.

don't tar us all with the same brush:rolleyes:

Knives will get banned , its only a matter of time , just like guns are banned ,
yet people still get shot in the UK .
You can quote any stats ,its how you read them . I could say 99% of people
were not killed by a knife in the UK or you could say 1,000 people were killed
by a knife in the UK . I made the numbers i dont know what the correct numbers are i was just making a point you can get the numbers to say what you want .

It necessarily eludes them that anyone can make a sharp knife from a butter knife, or a knife from a piece of steel or hard, flat acrylic. In Andy of Mayberry, Barney used to put the crooks in jail, then lose his temper when they reached out, grabbed the keys and let themselves out. How could they do such a thing! Didn't he tell them not to touch those keys?

Some people!

The nerve! Now stop that!

Until Gollnick chimes in, when you should be ready to be read the riot act - this post belongs in one of 3 other forums, not this one...

Not me.

I'd rather face a chair or stick wielding attacker over a guy with a knife any day.

That said though, British knife laws are stupid. I heard they might ban pointy kitchen knives. Sorry, but the clock just called, and he wants his cookoo back.
