OK, here is an idea that I just thought of at lunch for the knife opening and cutting timing compitition.
I do like the idea of cutting a rope with a wire... but this will take it a little further.
the competitor must start with their knife either clipped to the belt, pocket, or in a sheath or pocket. Then, to their right (if he/she is right handed) will be a button. The persons right hand will press the button, and when released, the timer will start. then they must draw their knife, open, cut a piece of rope/pop a balloon/are anything you decided, then close the knife, return to the belt/pocket/sheath (where ever it started at) then press the button again, thus stopping the timer! There should be a judge watching to make sure it is executed fairly, and that the object was cut, stabbed, or whatever, correctly, and that the knife was opened all the way, and then all the way closed when completed. If the person drops their knife, cuts them self, doesn't cut the rope, fail to open/close the knife all the way, and/or return to the beginning position will result in a DNF.
So, what do you think? You could also have a wire in the rope to time the draw to cut speed, while at the same time timing the whole draw-cut-close-resheath process
I am going to try this out at home, and see if I can make the set up better!
Shrubba.
