I'm building a knife database at http://www.bladebase.com/

I'm still working on it, but soon it will have a LOT more knives and search features that will let you find exactly what you are looking for.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

not an easy job you choosed :D youre going to need help from members here, and/or a lot of free time
good luck, maybe il help somehow this nice project

Ah, a great idea. Give it a feature so they can search alphabetically, by manufacturer, release date, and other technical specs (D2 steel, G10 handle, drop point, that kinda stuff for example). That would be awesome.

indeed! (y)

I have knife db on my site. Well, it's for the knives I own/owned, but some fields you could add would be useful for search. Type (fixed, folder, etc), designated use or subtype (utility, hunter, survival, boning, etc), blade geometry, steel, hardness, blade length and oal. Others were already mentioned...

I wish you the best of luck, you've got alot of work to do. After coming across Bladeforums a few years back and being totally shocked at the wealth of information here, i felt like i had been living under a rock all my life. We knife-minded folks should be able to help you out if need be.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

I'll be allowing for searches on all the fields that are listed, plus a few more I'm working on. Not every field shows for each knife since not every knife has data in each field.

I've already received permission from a bunch of manufacturers to use their images and descriptions, hopefully I'll get more once they see what I'm up to. I still haven't entered even close to all the ones I have permission for. I stopped at 200 in case I need to make changes first.

The more I learn, the more I realize how HUGE of an array of knives are made!

Please try to include pics of the lockup area ... liner thickness ... etc.

There were many knives that I was interested in buying... until I saw that part of the knife.

Wow this is great and something I was thinking of doing myself, but never had the time for it and only have enough skill to do it in excel format. Good work and keep it up!

Good idea. I'll need to have users submit photos for details like that.

Very cool. Quite the ambitious project. You only have a few thousand knives to go. :D

I like the idea.
After looking, it made me miss the Kershaw wild Turkey I traded a few years ago.
:(
