Knife Decision

For a while now, I have been looking at getting a SOG Seal Knife 2000.
I want this knife, but I'm a student and unfortunately I'm on a pretty tight budget.
My question is if I should wait and get the Seal Knife 2000, or get the SEAL Pup right now.
Right now, I can get the SEAL Pup for about $50 .
I'll be using the knife as a multi-purpose outdoor survival kinda knife.
I'll also take it hunting, not for skinning necessarily, but just as a knife to use when a job calls for a tough knife.

For the uses the knife will be subjected to, what are you suggestions? Opinions?

Thanks!!! :D :D :D

Having had the 2000 and the pup, more than likely you will find the smaller size more handy. The SEAL 2000 is unwieldy for average cutting chores and the ricasso is too long IMHO.

My ultimate "SEAL" knife would be a cross between the 2 models you mentioned. Basically take the Pup Elite and lengthen the dimensions to a 6" blade but keep the handle circumference normal (Read smaller than the 2000 knifes handle dimensions). Everyone's different and many would argue against my observations. Oh well!

If actual use means anything, the SEALs will issue the Pup but don't use the larger model. Some things happen for a reason.:)

Given a selection between only the two choices you listed, I side with DRE. The Pup is a handier choice than the SEAL 2000.

Given an unlimited set of choices, I second Robbie Roberson. A compact (and sharp) saw is an incredibly handy tool in the woods.

That pupppy's just so friendly that you'll be doing wrong to want any other.
seal PUP, and not it's pop - would do!

IF the "only" choice is SEAL Pup or SEAL 2000, it would be the Pup for me.

Of course it would be better if you could get both..........:D

Robbie Roberson ;)
