Howdy, I just came up with a unique idea for a knife.

How would this look? A Smatchet style blade with the handle being made like the japanese style knives using cord wrap and epoxy over rayskin?

Shoot hammer, that's why I pay the knifemakers:)
I am not the best when it comes to making stuff.

Hey if you Really Want it I Will Make it I Am Not Cheap for a Stingray Skin Wrapped in Silk But If you want to Spend the Money Why Not ?? How Wide of a Smachet Blade are we Talking about and What is The Preffered Steel For the Blade ?? Size ?? Thickness of Blade Ect ??

I just kind of threw out the idea to see if any makers thought it would be a good design. As far as having one made, I cant afford that yet. Thank you for your offer on making this knife for me Pinoy, I am going to try and fiddle around with some pictures and see if I cant put one together. Thanks

Slim, if you have Adobe Photoshop there's a thread on the top of Shop Talk Forum where I show step by step how to design a knife and then render it look real. I didn't do it for just the knife makers. I've designed and had made four knives with plans for several more. There's no better way to show a maker exactly what you want, and it don't get more Custom than that. ;)

That thread is no longer on the top of Shop Talk, here's the link.

Phil!! How you been man? Thanks for the 411 on Photo Shop, unfortunatley I don't have that program. I do however like the positive reviews I have heard about this program. Is it a difficult program too learn how to use?

Slim, I'm doing great and I hope you're the same.

I wrote those lessons so that anyone who has the program could learn enough to do their design work and get a pretty realistic looking knife as the results. Photoshop is a complex program with ways to do anything you can imagine, you just have to learn the tools and practice. I don't think you could ever explore everything that PS can do, so you learn to do the things you need to do and then try to get better and better. I look at it like playing a video game only at the end you have something to show others besides a high score.

I also did those lessons for people that couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler, just let PS do all of the work. I did include on the last page a link to a very good source for Quicktime videos on how to learn the PS Basics for people who want to get more in depth with the program.

Thank you Phil, I am going too try and get the photo shop program from ebay and see if I can save a couple of bucks.
