Hello all,

I have drawn out a small knife on graph paper. I would like it to go from paper to an actual blank of 1095.

Should I get the drawing copyrighted?

I've been trying to find a company here in NOVA that does CNC work, unfortunately no one is returning phone calls.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for all positive replies in advance

No ,just make the knife.Chances are you will change the design after you make and use it a couple times, even if it is ever so slightly.

Dejavu! Let me get the popcorn going.;)

First, if I were you , I'd try to make sure to the best of my ability that I was not making a direct copy of a knife someone else has already designed. If you are still young enough to continue after you complete that search you could proceed…….or if you are not doing this to go into mass production with the design, but rather build a single knife for your own use, then I'd just go ahead and make it and not worry about copyrights, or patents.

Disclaimer: I am not an attorney, and have never played one on TV, therefore anything I say should be taken as a layman's opinion and its worth is exactly what is cost you.

Im very good at what I do, hvac. I have forged a blade through tutoring at a Sayoc bladesmithing seminar over a weekend. Its a nice 12"+ dagger, that no kilowatts touched the blade. Forge and 12" mill bastard file and a lot of time.

This is out of my comfort zone.

Its going to be just for me and my daughter. Its looks like if the Tracker Scout knife and the BK11 had a baby :)

I'm taking what I like out of each knife and putting them where I like them, eg. the raised thumb ramp with jimping, the finger grooves, the bottle opener, the drop point, skeletonized handle to cut weight and the flat grind.

Thanks
