Hey, I just wanted to post this knife design to see what anyone thought about it. I just whipped it out as a quick sketch, and used Photoshop to add some color. Be Cruel if you'd like. I flubbed up the dimensions, but the handle is supposed to be symmetrical.
Fighter-bowie

i had the pic on here but it was just too big. I hate scrolling. you can click the link above.

Lol your right. I should call up UC. I'll make dozens of dollars! I am just starting to mess around with designs, So I would appreciate any tips or suggestions anyone might have regarding knife designs.

It looks like something from that hillbilly knife channel where you get 20+ different knives like that for $49.

In all honesty, it looks like it would cost more to make by hand, with all the curves and tight radiuses, than you could ever sell it for, as most folks who like those fantasy style knives seem to buy them from ...that hillbilly knife channel. :)

i actually like it, it has a lot of potential. it looks like more of a chopper than a fighter due to the blade-heaviness & khukuri-ish curve. as mentioned, it looks like it would need more hand room. other than that, i like it.. perhaps understate the recurve & the protrusion at the distal end of the handle a little, & you'll have a nice design.

I like it.
The middle two fingers need more room, and the pinky steel extension either needs to be smaller, or the index finger one longer, as they're not the same size finger. Up at the apex there's a sharp angle where it should be curved (does resemble Khukri shape here), but that's just some editting on your part I think.
I really like the design, nice color scheme too!
I'd buy one :)

straighten out the handle and you may have a workable knife. As it is though, I don't think it would work too well as the tip of the blade would be set very far forward because of the handle curve.

By straighten, I mean make the back edge of the handle more inline with back edge of the blade. But that would change the lines... You could just make the handle longer and lose the bottom tang extension/butt-cap/whatever it is.

Y'know, I like the overall looks of it. It's amazing what one can do when one doesn't know what one can do :D As others have said, add more length to the handle. I actually like the thought of the handle and blade curving downward. How they would work in-hand, however, remains to be seen.

What I do when I get a design I really like is draw it exactly as I want it on paper, then cut it out. Then, I trace it to a thick cardboard and cut that out. The cardboard cutout gives a decent approximation of in-hand feel and lets me know where to make modifications. Then, it's usually back to the drawing board...

open it up a little, too restricted. The cardboard suggestion is a great idea, if you have clay, use that too.
