In 1974, and 1976, pre-dating the Knives Annuals, now published by Krause, a guy named William L. Cassidy put out two books, Knife Digest I & II.

These are really hard to find, and since, I have been looking for Volume I, I found a treasure trove for used books.'

Knife World has Volume II in HARD COVER for cheap!!!

The Knife Digest books are totally "must haves".

Steve,

Will have to take a look at these. Thanks for the heads up on "One hundred masterpieces", what a great book!

The Knife Digest books, especially I are different, but interestingly enough parallel to what we were talking about the other day.

Knife Digest I, has a Williamson article on the history of the American Bowie, there are TWO features on Loveless, one written by himself, and a piece on the Japanese sword by Hawley. As you know these are some of the greats.

Glad you got the One Hundred Masterpieces, not only is is a book that works for a coffee table, but it has the finest color photographs of blades and fittings that have ever been assembled. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it is only about traditional Japanese blades and fittings.

I have just leafed through it though, Jose, and I apologize, I thought that there were more pieces displayed fully mounted.:)

Best Regards, and Happy New Year!

Knife World is definitely the best place to get ahold of books, both in and out of print. They have and astonishing assortment. I don't have the Knife Digest books, but at the prices they are available for I should definitely check them out. I might just have to pick them up before the Flayderman book on bowies as it still in print and will be around for awhile.
