Hello , I have just acquired an original Camillus Cuda, manufactured in the 70's, I'm trying to take it apart but I cannot separate the blade from the left half of the handle' where the button is located to open the blade, it is a slide mechanism. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Russ

We have a Camillus forum here on the site, and one of the late company's foremost employees (Phil Gibbs) regularly checks in. Post this question there, or get a moderator to move this one.

Greetings & Welcome to BladeForums!

The blade has a keyhole slot for a pivot hole.
Remove pivot & bushing from knife then slide blade so button shaft moves along keyhole slot toward hole.
Once there, button can be removed.
Removing clip side handle & liner first will make this clearer!

Oh, & the CUDAs were from the 90s, not the 70s - I am not that old! :D

I have taken the clip side handle off and I see how it operates but I'm having trouble getting the pivot and bushing off is the bushing pressed on ? I don't want to damage anything

Don't know how, I appreciate you're help I took pictures but I can't get them to you. I'll try and figure this out myself, The screw that's on the other side of the handle which holds the brass bushing in, will turn but will not come out it's like the bushing is pressed on somehow. The button shaft is really loose but nomatter which way I move it ,it doesn't seem to make any difference

Screw & threaded sleeve will pass thru handle, when the button is out of the way.
Bushing will then come out of the blade.
Bushing was NOT press fit; probably just a little bound up with lube & pocket lint!

If you are still having problems, email me your pics to the thecutlery@yahoo.com
