Knife Display Cases

Not sure if this is the right forum to put this thread in but it seemed to be the safest.

Has anyone tried their hand at building their own display case for their knives? What materials did you use? It would be interesting to see your design so go ahead a show them off!

I'll be making my attempt in the near future so any helpful advice or inspiring ideas would be a great help!

benchmade makes a display stand and cases. Other third parties do the same.

I'm aware that there are factory produced display cases but I have yet to find one that I really like and that fits my needs. Moreover, building one myself will be a fun project.
