Knife display holders

Anyone have a suggestion for a source for wooden holders to display custom knives? I have one or two I'd like to display on my desk in my library. This wouldn't be a box or frame, but a nice holder. Thanks.

Idea! Do you have a Vocational School or College nearby that has a woodshop/cabinet making class? If you do, maybe you can have a student make what you need, as a "project" for the class.

I once had a VERY NICE stereo cabinet made that way, for only the cost of the materials.

Fellow forumite John Yeackley runs a woodworking shop, makes great looking display stands and cabinets, and is a really fine person. He gave away about twenty Great wooden knives to folks with the requirement that they best used to teach kids about knives and knife safety. Please consider his work: Yeackley knife stands

His email is jyeackley@mindspring.com

I'm sure John would be happy to help you find a great way to display those new Winklers!

Hi Paladin1,
John Yeackley is the man that can give you very interesting display stands or cases for your fine knives. I send all my customers to him, and also have a few of his stands on my table at shows. They really make my knives stand out. I also have a page set up for him on my Web-site. You will probably have to send him your knives, so that he can fit them exactly to the display stands. Knife collectors seem to under stand this, and have no problem sending him their knives. However, at a MN Safari Club Show last year, I had some problems with some member's wives, who stopped by my booth, and commented on how nice John's display cases would be for jewelry boxes. When I explained John's construction methods, and that they would have to send him, "All their jewelry", they got a little upset, to say the least!! Go figure??

FWIW, Spyderco has tooled up for and is releasing later this month clear plastic knife holders in two sizes.

They were produced primarily for dealers to use in display, but work well on a desk.

WOW !!!!!!!

Thanks guys for all the praise.

I really am a knife nut, so I enjoy using my craft for knife displays.

(This is our little secret) I only require you to send me the knife because I love to touch and feel the knives. I can make some simple knife holders that don't require the knife. But if you really want a display to fit the knife like a glove and show it off to its best advantage, then I need the knife.

One other thing--- I do own a shop with employees but if you send me a knife I do ALL the work on it myself. Sometimes it may take a while. Bo can vouch for that, but that "Wind Song" knife was a real beauty, I hated to see it go.

Thanks guys for the plug.

John

John Y,
I'd like to have you do a few displays for my new Daniel Winklers. Can you email me so we can discuss? I hear all the praise, I want to see what all the fuss is about. And I'm willing to pay you for the experience!!
