I've gotten back to the point where I have *several* knives that I rotate for everyday carry. I'd like a display/storage case for my dresser. Anyone have any recommendations for a nice looking case for them?

I think a Kennedy 3 or 4 drawer tool chest would be a nice storage box. I like the brown color.

I use an old desk right now, but my amazing wife is going to order this wooden display case with a glass top for my
bday!

Just do a search for knife storage case with drawers and it will come up.

Question along those lines, I usually cut up some old cardboard box flaps and fold them over and tape them to make a sleeve for my knives, does the cardboard have any chemicals that may hurt carbon steel knives? I do oil them before sliding them in.

most cardboard is not made from acid free archival material, so in theory could discolor and harm the steel over a very long time. If that is your preferred long term storage, I would probably spend a few dollars to get some acid free matte board and an archival (sometimes called photo safe) tape as well. But short term - I wouldn't worry about it.

I just got a flier in the mail today from a national chain, a "store" that sells "containers", if you know what I mean. Go to their website and search for items 10058851 and 10058852. These look like they would be good for storage of folders and maybe small fixed blades.

Hmmm. That's kind of brilliant. Something like that would work well until I can afford something nice in wood. Thanks!

I got 2 dedicated drawers for my knives and accessories in my work desk. It's easy accessible, dry and clean place.

I use old silverware boxes; you can get em cheap (usually $5.00 or less from thrift stores and yard sales etc....) I've found them to work well so far! Here's the "newest" one I've purchased:

Older two boxes that I've had for a while:

So far I'm really enjoying these as a short term storage solution; not sure how well they'd work for long term though...

For now, I have all my folders in the BM brag-bag in a large safe. I store all my large fixed blades on the inside pocket attachment on my safe door. For my large folders I lightly coat the blade with some oil and that's about it. Never had any issues with rust ;)

I would like to get a display, but all it takes is for someone to break in and jack all my blades.. I feel much better with them in a safe!

Like this idea in that you can store fixed blades and your folders open.

I use a jewelry box bought from local chain clothing/merchandise store that works well and looks good. Big diff being you cant store fixed blades or folders open.

Nice collection BTW.

Thanks folder geek; I still need something to hold all my fixed blades that is secure as well as attractive; I built a magnetic knife rack out of oak and rare earth magnets but it only holds some of the inexpensive fixed blades right now.... All the good stuff is stashed away from prying eyes and nimble fingers.

Harbor Freight has a wooden tool chest with a top compartment and eight drawers perfect for knives. Usually can be had for $80.

Since I spent all my money on knives, I don't want to spend the money on it so I use an old briefcase with some egg shell foam in it. Its not a display case but a great way to store or transport my goodies

I picked up one of these at a local hardware store for $20 on sale. I might replace it with something classier lookin' later on, but it works well for folder storage in the meantime. Keeps things organised and is easy to access.
