Knife display?

How do you (if at all) display your knives? I am re-doing my home office and would like to get some ideas. I have a pretty modest collection of 20 or so "tactical" folders, most are users.
Thanks

I currently have them stored in a "hidden" drawer that is designed to hide valuables. I find that most of my favorites fit in there just fine. But as for display, I've been thinking about building something that'll hang on the wall or sit on my dresser. What I had in mind was to build a box, stain it black, get some velvet like material (always liked the look for jewelry displays), cover the inside with said material, and either put some wood pegs inside for the knives, or use some magnets like a few of the local gun shops do. It would have a glass front with a lock (not that it would do much good with a glass front) I'd either make it rather large, or have a second one for fixed blades.

Something like this:

It would have to be a little bigger and taller to accommodate knives, but that's basically what I have in mind. I was also thinking about getting some of that hurricane or bullet proof glass, to reduce the chance of breakage (or break-in). Not sure how much that'll set me back though.....

James Todd has an amazing display that I'm sure he'll post for you before too long.. :)

You could hang them by lanyards (lanyard through the lanyard hole, lanyard looped/tied to a nail/peg). I hung a fixed blade like this for a bit just because I had no better place to stow it.
Shelves are always a good way to go; lots of room for customization and personal prefence there.

I keep my knives in shadow boxes on the wall above my desk

That's even better than what I had in mind.

If you don't mind sharing your secret with the less intelligent among us (me), how'd you go about making one of those? Or did you purchase it somewhere?

about $15 a piece @ Home Goods store (big chain, the same company as TJ Max and Marshall's). Just don't tell anybody, let's keep a secret.:D
Not my idea, came from WhyNot, he forum member as well.
Good luck.

Thanks, I read display and here I come, just a little something to hold some of my knives. Before BF, it held them all, now I have drawers full as well. It is addictive. Beware. Just one more and you will be satisfied.

Those are some great ideas...I think the shadow box setup will be perfect. It will be easy to expand, and the price is right.
Thanks!

Thanks for posting this thread.

I had no idea until seeing bh49's photo that a display could look so good at such a competitive price.

It would be great if they had sword size frames! :)

I wonder how well they seal and if the would offer some protection from the the salty air where I live?

i have mine lined up on an old beat up coffee table haha. but after seeing those shadow boxes i may have to get some of those, they look great

Wow, didn't even know that TJ Max/Marshall's sold stuff like that. Thanks, guess I know where I'm going after work tomorrow! :D

all my knives are in my gun safe except my edc rotation. I got a nice wooden medium sized cigar box and cut dowels to span it, making 7 compartments. 1 for each day that is designated for its use. When changing the line up the replaced blade goes in the safe and its replacement goes in the slot..
