Previously I showed the Three Amigos displayed. Here is a set of knives on the opposite end table although one knife has a newer stand.

this one shows a vase that is lit by nice sunlight coming through a window. the knives don't show so well in this image but the concept of how to do some displays is still there.

Very cool. There is nothing like having cool knives around the house. I wanna take some new pics of my set up now!

I went with a little less artistic approach to my display. The picture isn't as good as Murray's either, but it shows some of my custom knives where I like to keep them, behind the sofa.

Be careful when you stretch while sitting on Harry's couch!!! ;) :D

Good thoughts guys. This is in my office (Man Cave) and access is very limited. I did have some of the same concerns though. The sofa has a real high back, and I tried it out to see what I would have to do to hit one accidently. It would take some work, not saying that it couldn't be done, but you would be surprised how careful you can be around it.

They are out of the way and not where anyone can pick one up without going to some trouble. I would not recommend doing this in a part of the house where someone that is not familiar with knives or a child can get into them. If a child or some other innocent did get in there, they would probably go for one of my swords first anyway.

When I go in the office, I'm there to relax and forget what is outside. I enjoy being able to see and access some of my collection. If one bites me one day, it won't have been the first time and it will have still been worth it.

it's cool to hear someone else use the term 'man cave':D
That's what my wife calls 'our' garage:D

Harry,
i like the man cave! Nice idea on the board. I can see that would be a very accessible way to display, anytime the impulse strikes you could just grab the knife. No worry about the precise arrangement. Simple is good!

Nice displays shown here.
Displaying and having my knives on display where I can see and enjoy them everyday is much of the enjoyment of collecting custom knives for me.

Murray - I love this one. Bet it registers a strong visual image from many angles.

yes Buddy, it is a terrific looking vase and even without the sun coming in is wonderful and each angle creates a different look. I just had to get the shot of it on the G 11. I did some with a bit of fill flash but lost the total effect of the sun. It was ok but not as nice as this image.

Very nice set up. Murray it appears that you took the Jarvis stand and put your Lloyd on it.

Marcel

Yes, Marcel, that is just what I did. It works perfectly. I have the Paul Jarvis on another stand so it is horizontal and faces the David Broadwell Fighter which is on a similar stand and both are on the Fireplace mantel. They look rather nice facing each other. I looked to see if I have this image but the one I have is of another setup/display prior to getting the PJ so I guess I have another image to make.

Well, Murray, they may not be on display but I was most pleased to see folders of mine still in your collection and showing them in your photos. Thank you. Frank

For those that are not so familiar with Frank Niro's folders here are some examples.

Frank lives in the interior of BC not far from where I grew up and I believe still attends the gun and knife show in Kamloops each Spring and is one of Canada's best folder makers who creates fine knives simply for the love of knives.

My favorite displays are either rustic type, or antique showcase cabinets. There is usually much better attention to tasteful stylistic details in the old stuff. Also, lends a bit of classic elegance.
- i havent seen much of this used for modern custom knives, to date. But Bruce Voyles 1st auction catalogue really does a good job of presenting the knives in such a way. Old playing cards, memorabilia, etc..
David

that could work well with the older knives you suggest 2knife but all of my custom knives are within the last 30 years approximately (oldest is 1978) and I fit them often to other things in the home. Old knives have never been of interest to me particularly as I like the knife as a piece of sculpture not simply as a tool.
