Got myself a hard felt 'knife-edge' polishing for my Dremel over at Congress Tools (I think Jantz/Koval sells 'em, too as do several jewelry-making sites) and wanted to try the small piece of Flexcut Gold that came with my slip strop after hearing/reading all of STR's praise of said abrasive.

Works awesome for polishing/sharpening serrated blades. Don't know how it pans out with high-carbide stainless as it's only seen H1 so far, but the felt disc tapers to hit inside the serrations with ease (unless you have the old style Cold Steel serrations) and allows good clearance for the Dremel (or similar sized rotary tools).

Maybe a quarter of a second or less. Barely slower than the Sharpmaker and leaves a higher polish with the Flexcut.

They could push-cut me, but not much else. On a hawkbill blade, a polished edge seems to work better, even if it's serrated.

Great idea. I never thought to try using it that way. I will now though.

Thanks Thom.

I've used a lot of different polishes for stropping over the years but nothing I've used seems to do the job as well as Flex Cuts stuff. I can't say why. They make some nice wood carving knives and their blades are typically sharper than any others I've ever bought including the really expensive Japanese ones and other higher dollar ones made in the USA so maybe that polishing compound is why. Alls I know is it works. I've used it on my D2 knives and stainless with great results. It does take more strops with the higher hardness blades I think but it works fine.
