So I'm after a new fixed blade, I have narrowed it down to 2 different knives, the first is a gso5 by survive! Knives and the second is Knife Research Enki Fixed Blade, I don't care about the price tag, I want a knife I can abuse and not let me down, thoughts???

I know, when I say abuse I mean hard use is intended, I'm not going to beat on it as much as the people I've watched in some videos, I just need some opinions who know about the different steels

Out of those 2 you listed, I'd go with the Survive!, but if you want a knife that will tolerate "tough love" and beg for more, get a Busse. Not much of a price difference, and you will get an incredibly tough blade, backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty. Try to break it - they'll send you another one if you succeed.

If money is no object you should check out a Chris Reeve Pacific, Green-Beret or one of the other CRK fixed blades.

I wouldn't recommend those if you want an especially tough fixed blade. The GSO 5 or Enki should both absorb much more abuse than the CRK models. You really should check out Busse, though. They're pretty much the masters of the obnoxiously tough knife. More than a little cult of personality surrounding their products, but they are the real deal.

I'll have a look at busse now, see if I can find one that suits what I want, I just love the design of the gso5 and I have a survive! Knife and it feels great in the hand.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the GSO and I strongly suspect it will be more than enough knife for anything short of prying open manholes.

Yeah the gso5 is great, it's just the waiting for it to be available, I have a lot of other knives that I could take when I go away, I'm just being to impatient I think

I have a GSO 4.1 and love it. It's tough enough to do anything you want and not too terrible on the wallet. Another thing I like is the utilitarian, no-frills look. I'm not worried about scratches or dings. I'm not afraid to use it. That may not be true for me if I sprang for a Busse.

I'd rather spend that money on a GSO or one of the Bussekin knives. The Scrapyard knives & Swamp Rat knives are made by the same company. Their SR-101 steel will do anything you need.

I'm not one of those that believes INFI steel outshines SR-101 or CPM-3V. If you are then maybe the extra money for a Busse would be okay.

Depends on what you mean by outshine. INFI or 3V are both gonna be a whole lot tougher and more stain resistant than SR-101.

Yes, more stain resistant for sure.... Tougher, yes probably, but probably not by all that much. It's debatable.... However, I have used INFI a lot, and it is everything it's hyped up to be. For sure, it's the real deal.

Not an expert. But get a RD7 in 5160. If you can hurt it you're doing something seriously wrong.

I have several Busses, but if you are looking for a 5" blade, 3V might be a better choice than INFI, as it is plenty tough enough and has higher wear resistance. The GSO-5 will be significantly cheaper than a comparable Busse.

However, it you want something larger, then Busse is an excellent choice. The Basic series are the best bang for the buck. The B8 is expected to come out in a couple of months, and there was a B11 on the Exchange recently for only $300 including sheath.

I'm just going to wait wait for the gso5, josh at survive knives said it isn't to far away, I'm hoping I'm not away on my canoe trip when it comes out and I miss out again, I will be very upset!!!!

I'd say go for the GSO 3.5. Nothing but great knives mentioned above, but my votes for the 3.5.
