Do you prefer a trapper or a jack knife (2 full sized blades vs 1 main and a shorter secondary) and why?

I think a jack.
(Please forgive me. I gotta ask: Isn't the trapper pattern a jack knife?)
I'm more likely to carry a Barlow, Loom Fixer, canoe*, sunfish*, a pen knife**, or my one harness jack, or a jack knife with two full size blades that isn't a trapper, like a moose*, or two blade slipjoint folding hunter, than one of my trappers.
(*double ended jack knife)
(**may be a double end jack knife, or a single end jack knife, such as a peanut.)

I don't know why I don't carry a trapper more often. S'not like I don't have any ...

Yeah, I suppose I would call a trapper a jack knife technically. I just did not know of a better way to phrase the question.

While poking around for info on Schrades, I found a trove of old Schrade catalogs.
It turns out that what I always called Trappers~ clip and long spey, like the 293 and 94, were called Serpentine Jacks.
And all with a clip and pen, ie:294, as well as their single bladed ones (194) in this pattern were called...

Serpentine Jacks.

But to answer your question, one of my first knives I bought as a teenager was a 293Y yellow Trapper, er Serpentine Jack. So I will always have a soft spot for those. And when going out to eat, I always tote a Trapper. The long spey is my food blade.
However, in the last few years I lucked into some single blades and some of the clip/pen knives. And I REALLY like the clip/pen combination. A user 294 in delrin is one of the knives that I say would do if it were my only knife.
It’s this one, pictured with a smaller jack, a 233.
I vote Serpentine Jack:cool:66C02E54-F1EE-4625-88AC-E9A502910753.jpeg

Good answer lol Those are sweet by the way!

I don't like being caught without a cap lifter secondary, just in case a cold beer rolls into my path, so I'm going to have to go with Jack.

Riddle me this...

If it's a single blade knife, is it a trapper or a jack?

This is Case’s definition of a trapper. I’d guess that all trappers are jacks but not all jacks are trappers. The single blade I’d say is a jack.
