Knife Find Challenge?

Hola! I've been interested in knives since my Uncle started making his own blades, but never got around to actually getting into them. Figured this would be a good time to start!

My friend has been talking about a knife he saw but cannot find on the internet. (Shocking, I know!)

There's usually not much I can't find, but this is stumping me pretty bad. I'm hoping you guys with all of your knowledge can place the blade and help us out!

The info here is what he has told me about the knife, I'm not 100% sure he isn't off his rocker on some of it, as I am pretty ignorant when it comes to knives still.

Materials:

Blade: Ceramic Edged Steel with Carbon Fiber inlays that he says can "repair" itself, that if it DID break, you could reheat it and it would shape the broken part into an edge? He said it used a Ti alloy.
Handle: Carbon Fiber

Design:

It's a fixed blade. The handle contours into the blade (with the blade?) to make it look like a single piece of carbon fiber.

Here is a pic of what he says is "Almost Perfect" in matching the description (But he claims the one in the pic is photoshopped and fake). If you want to call him stupid, just let me know, I can take care of that! :D

I appreciate any help!

What is that on the back of the knife - a potato peeler?

Blade: Ceramic Edged Steel with Carbon Fiber inlays that he says can "repair" itself, that if it DID break, you could reheat it and it would shape the broken part into an edge? He said it used a Ti alloy.
Handle: Carbon Fiber

So what is it going to be? Ceramic, steel, carbon fiber or Ti?
1) There are ceramic blades; ceramic-edged steel? how and why?
2) You can "coat" steel knives with a thin layer of ceramic (for corrosion resistance);
3) There are carbon fiber knives, they are as sharp and useful as a plastic letter opener. Some have treated the edge with carbides to make it cut better. -NO you can't heat broken CF to have it repair itself. CF is just sheets of carbon cloth held together by resin and is very strong for its weight. There are no magical properties; and
4) Titanium alloy... good for airplanes but typically too soft to be a good blade material unless used for very special applications.

So how could all those materials be made into a knife, and more importantly, why?

Tell your friend he needs to stop believing in video games.

Check out the Fox Stealth CarbonTitan. It uses Ti and Carbon fiber to form the blade. He could have heard or seen this knife or something like it but is misreading or just has some of the facts wrong about it. Maybe he's mixing up characteristics of Carbon Fiber, Titanium, Ceramic and blending that with what he has seen in one of these highly specialized Military/EOD knives.

And how many damage points does it inflict if imbued with a magical incantation?

At least 2d4! I mean, come on, Ti Alloy, Carbon Fiber, Ceramic, AND Magical? Yeah. At least.

On topic: Yeah, like I said, I wasn't 100% sure he wasn't off his rocker when he was describing it to me... I figured he had misread the information or what have you.

I'll get back with him later and get the straight story, after letting him know he should stop confusing fantasy and reality.

I left this part out, but perhaps it's pertinent information, (and I'm not sure how I can put this into a coherent sentence...without making MYSELF look as dumb as I think he is right now..) he says it's a knife used by one or more of SEAL Team 6 members.

I know, I'd "digi" slap him, but he's not on his computer atm.

Solid Snake owns the exact knife your friend is looking for.

Well, now I know why he says it was fake...

Ok, here's an update:

I am going to type word for word what he said:

It's not pure Ti, though, it's an alloy. My best guess is some Ti in it because Ti is one of the alloy components in the newer shape memory sheets. And because the idea behind the knife was to be almost weightless, and Ti is a lightweight metal. The blade's edge is a ceramic composite. The body of the knife is carbon fiber.

He found the shape of the blade, but the handle isn't carbon fiber like the knife he has been looking for.

well, I'll be...I had no clue the SOG Seal Team had ALL of those mystical properties! I'm gonna lock mine in a fire-ringed safe guarded by 12 trolls.

Tell your friend to stop smoking what ever he's smoking and go ahead and send it directly to me...sounds like some potent stuff... :D

It sounds like what he is talking about is something from Warren Thomas. He makes carbon fiber laminated titanium blades with a carbide edge. That's my best guess.

I'm going to suggest having your friend sign up and explain what he wants...because right now, he's making you kinda look like the goofball! Not a great start! :D

That was it guys, I could tell he was drooling from the other side of the phone. Thanks for finding this guy!

Hahaha I enjoyed watching this thread! Too bad my deflection cloaking trench coat would break the knife in half and give me + 20 hp

here's a few pics of my old collection of WT. I still have the green one and am getting three other Wts.
