A friend asked if I wanted a piece of walnut to use for knife handles. I said sure. The tree was started by his Mother-inlaw. It was only 6ish years old and he decided to take it down to make room for a swing set for his grand kids. Since his Mother-inlaw had passed away some 6 months earlier the tree had sentimental value and asked if I could make a knife for his wife with this wood as the handle. Nothing big... just something to help remember Mom, He even dug the root ball so I should get some nice figured stuff when it dries. Here is the little blade. 6" overall forged from 3/8" D2.
When his wife uses it is a fruit knife. When he uses it it will be a Bird and Trout. He also wants a larger one to use as his EDC.
Not the greatest pict....I need a new camera.

Marge now wants one for her sister. Guess I'll be making a few more of these.

The picture definitely doesn't seem to do it justice. I like it. The walnut is a pretty light color.

Here is the only other one I have.
