I have a funny feeling that the guys on this forum know more about the various knives out there and their materials than most cops do.

Just a feeling!

Collecter

Yup..Collector is correct. Myself, on duty I have a Benchmade AFO on the duty belt and a Spyderco Native clipped to my pants pocket.

Most of my co-workers have those really common Smith and Wesson knives, and there's a few Spyderco Enduras...

Always a Victorinox SwissChamp.

Usually a Gerber multitool.

Occasionally a Spyderco Pride.

Rarely a Sebenza/BM 710 HSSR/Camillus CUDA Talonite EDC etc.

A SAK will cover 99% of your needs.

I'm not full time LEO yet (just a reserve deputy) but when I'm on patrol I carry a Spyderco Police, SAK Officer and Gerber multitool.

I'm a retired Deputy Sheriff, but when I was on the job, I carried a Cold Steel large combo-edge clip-point Voyager (a fairly good, but inexpensive folder), and a Leatherman multi-tool.

Large Sebenza Classic with rosewood inlay, Leatherman Squirt and a Leatherman Super Tool in my gear bag.

I have a multi tool in the unit. I carry a MT SOCOM for weapon retention and a Spydy Civilian in a sap pocket for seat belt cutting.
I also like the BM Axis auto.
I always buy two weapons matched so if one is out of service I have another set up the same way. I modify mine.

what is an MT SOCOM??

how is the CIVI for seat belts?? i was seriously considering this knife ( already have one but want to know what LEO's think)

You can slip the Civie in sideways and turn it to rip out without harming the vic.
It can also be used for trapping an arm or other defensive uses, such as weapons retention.

I'm with the USBP and my EDC is a spydie Native clipped to my pocket and a fixed blade CRKT Polkowski Kasper attached to my camelback.
Sometimes I get creative and carry my protech TR-1, BM 720 or my Spyderco Chinook.

As a cop, you just can't beat the cost/weight/quality of the spyderco light weights. They don't cost much so if you loose one, oh well, buy another.

I had a Police back in the `70`s. I put ping pong rubber on it with rubber cement , as it liked to work its way free.
I do not remember what happened to it.

Did they make the Spyderco Police model in the '70s??

I'm not going to reply with my EDC because I'm not a cop. But I was wondering: is everyone who has responded a cop?

I'm not a full time cop yet. I'm just a Reserve Deputy but my Dept. actually uses reserves to cover shifts. I'm still on probation so I'm more like just a rider, no badge or handgun yet, that'll come in February when my probation is up. I carry most everything else though.
