I just became a Daddy!

Congratulations!

Start the boy's collection out with the scalpel used to cut his own cord.

After that, well, how about one of those new Benchmade 42s?

Hey! Congratulations!
No knife for baby...yet.
Best to wait till he realizes he has hands first!

My new bumper sticker:

Let me tell you about my SIFU!

You could get one of the member makers to make you something special with a little brass plate with his name and DOB.

On second thought, while the 42's Ti handles make it almost light enough for a newborn, the handles may still be just a bit long. How about this one:

Congratulations.

Maybe a Sebenza with the same D.O.B.

Hi Daddy!

Congratulations! I can feel with you, because my little son will have to arrive in the next days. And certainly if I think for my son I think about knifes.

But I will not donate him his first kife - this is grandpa´s duty by tradition. And as I know my Dad, it surely will be a swiss army knife. And this is the right tool for first expeditions in the jungle at the city limits.

Give my best wishes to the proud mum!

Claus

Congrats, Kris! An advise from dad of two-months girl. Think before jump! I got two HI Ang Khola ready for her, (one for me) now I have to find SECOND knife. It'll be too long to wait until she can even draw the 3lbs monster from the scabbard herself...

I can just take a pic of her with two khukuris on her head as the youngest and most dangerous playmates with bunny ears.

I believe you aren't THIS stupid, but... not sure.

Congradutations on the Son - The discussion is right - it's a grossvater's place to provide the first blade... My grandfather gave me one that His grandfather had given him with the admonition not to cut anything.. I immediately went out and cut the ropes on the swing in the apple tree.. He took it back! that was when I was about 6
10 years later - he returned it.. the story was his grandfather took it out of the back of some guy after a fight and just kept it.
I will give it to a grandson someday .. but for now - it is put away - The knife is a toothpick pattern with small blade as release for large blade lock - has real ivory scales -- but can't make out the name but after 150 odd years .. so what!
I do pray a peaceful world for your son to live in to a ripe old age.

How about a BF blue native.
My first knife was one that had belonged to my grandfather too.

You might consider contacting John Yeackley of Classic Wood Designs,he has a big soft spot for little people, and uses wooden knives to introduce them to the world of knives.
I purchased one for my 2 yr old and John had it laser engraved per my wording.
Beautiful first knife for my son and John is a great guy to deal with.

John's # 719-572-1301

Hope you enjoy planning your childs first knife as I did,It's just a wooden knife but it means as much to me as any of my high dollar customs.

Hope this helps

Kevin
