I have ALWAYS wanted/asked my wife to carry something, even if its a SAK, She has always said no. With the recent News events (Prayers go out to CT) she is beginning to come around... First off I want to say I am not in anyway condoning she be a hero with a literal knife in a gun fight. I just wish she had a just in case "weapon" with her or even something to remove a pesky itchy tag in a piece of clothing... :)

Anyhow as an avid knife fan and owner of several tactical type folders I think that would be a bit much for her.

I would like to find something that is not intimidating at all. Truth be known it will also get abused a bit too. I could see her using it as a screw driver for sure.

Must haves would be, Locking in the event she has to actually protect herself or cut something that would require a lot of force; seatbelts. I would set the budget at $60 +/-

It sounds like a lot of people really like Kershaw Leeks, Ive owned CRKT M16 series knives, pretty nice too.

My wife carries a Spyderco Dragonfly. I've offered her different knives and even tried to get her a Tattoo version. She has made it clear that the plain old FRN Dragonfly is her EDC choice.

Best I can suggest is, take her shopping. She isn't going to carry what she doesn't like. Let her pick it out. Just try to guide her in the quality area and let her know that you are more comfortable with her having something "just-in-case".

I got my girlfriend a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 as well. She was always borrowing my Pingo and kinda liked it but enjoys the sleeker Dragonfly and the fact that it locks. I even tied a pretty blue paracord knot on it and she's ready for envelopes, packages and who knows what else.

a few of my ex-gfs have Leeks. a pink Spyderco Ladybug or Squeak should be able to handle most EDC tasks too.

My wife edc a pencil . I was edc a leek today and the kids had a bag of candy they couldn't open my doughter ask to give my wife the knife I went to give it to her she says no I have a pencil .:barf:

Gave mine a pink mini grip and she loves it. Giving my daughter a Spyderco Tattoo Dragonfly and a Tattoo Ladybug for Christmas.

I would suggest something at least 9mm, preferably .40S&W. :)

Years ago I bought my wife a FRN Dragonfly to carry in her purse, mostly for use as a tool.

About 6 years ago my daughter wanted a knife, I was thinking something like a Dragonfly. I took her to a gun show and she picked out a black/black mini-griptilian. I bought her one of the green Tenacious sprint models and she carries it now. (Actually one of her friends fubarred the pocket clip so she is temporarily carrying my blue Tenacious until I get proper tools for Christmas to remove her clip and fix it.) I had thought to suggest a Leek for her but I thought there was a possibility that it could open while being carried in her purse.

My wife carries a purple kershaw splinter and she is a principal, my daughter is getting a lime green snap-on 1440 for christmas. There really are alot of good knives in that price range for a lucky lady! Good luck!

A purple delica would be perfect, the spyderco native also is available in pink

A leek is the only knife my wife actually ever carried.I have given her 3 or 4 knives and I always find them in the bathroom cabinet:confused:the leek was the only knife that made it into her purse.I would try to find a g-10 model if you can (for better grip) and get her a small Leatherman (squirt?)because the tip on the leek will NOT work as a screwdriver

Mine kept borrowing one of my leatherman micra's until she flew out of town one time and it flew into the collection barrel. She just has a mall victornox now, but I am am looking to upgrade her. She usually carries one of my folders when we hike or spend time outdoors.

My woman carries an Emerson CQC-14. Great knife but decided to get her something with a bit more reach.

I don't see why a Leek wouldn't do her any good. I can understand how the tip can be delicate and easy to break, but It's worth it. They also come in pink, and if you're worried about it opening up in her pocket or purse then you can also move the slider thingy (don't know what to call it) up and you have your problem fixed.

but I am am looking to upgrade her. S.

I couldn't do this as mine has been around and faithful for 37 years. The fact that she has put up with me for all that time and is still around says a lot! :couple_inlove:

I bought my wife one of those. Girly, and the heel opens bottles. As long as she cuts with the sharp side of the blade, non-locking isnt an issue.
