Reading the post Andy put up about Ben just crushes me. As a parent of two healthy little girls, my minds scrambles to try to comprehend what it must be like to see your child suffer like poor little Ben, let alone think about the financial hardships. My heart just breaks.

So, I offer up this knife to try to lend a small little bit of help to Ben and his parents.

I just got back in town today and this Kephart was waiting for me. I sharked in the FBF from the Blade Show floor post. I've been picking up various 4" Fiddlebacks to see which one is my favorite...this thing is brand spanking new. So far the Bushcrafter reigns supreme (I've also tried the Bushfinger and now the Kephart), but I'm waiting to try the Arete still.

This is a beautiful knife, but I'm unfortunately not a collector, so this one is set to be sold.

Rather than putting this up in the Market, I'd like to sell it here for Ben.

All money will go to Ben, the shipping is on me. In fact, if it's okay with Andy, I'd prefer the buyer just pay Andy so that he can get the funds straight to the family.

Since this is charity, how about an auction? I paid $290, so do I have a starting bid of $250 for Super Ben? Let's get the little guy a few more bucks, the knife has been unwrapped for all of an hour now, it's brand new. Thanks.

2014 0606 04 – Kephart with Curly Walnut over black g10 with yellow pinstripes, SFT Tang, convex on 1/8” spalted 01 steel - $290 ADDED: Rick Lowe has agreed to add a sheath for the winning bidder!

Me too man, I wish I had the money to pitch in, but right now all I can offer are prayers and thoughts, and I think of Ben often. It's things like this that give me a great sense of pride to be a part of this little community. Outstanding gesture man, very nicely done.

Hey esdunbar, when will the auction end? Great idea by the way!

I suppose when bidding slows down. I didn't really think that far ahead. It will go at least until this time tomorrow so that folks have a chance to see it.

The last auction had on here got Andy in some trouble with the mods. I think more people will be willing to participate if we know that it wont have any negative ramifications for Andy.

Shoot a PM to one of the Mods letting him know what youre doing this for to keep Andy in the clear. I think that will help us get some more cash for Ben, not just from us fiddlebackers but hopefully from some seeing on the main page. Heck, once you get approval from the mods i'd change the title to include "Charity Auction" or something along those lines, and I bet more people would participate.

I thought they said Andy can do what he wants on his forum???

Just show them a pic of Super Ben, his powers of awesomeness will persuade even the mods!

Let me try to clear up some of the confusion. In the Exchange forums (which this is not), auctions of any type are not allowed. In most cases, linking to active external auctions (ebay, fund raising site etc) is not allowed anywhere on the site unless Spark has approved it. The membership requirements to sell (gold or above) also apply site wide without exception. This forum (Fiddleback) is a hosted knifemaker forum and therefore Andy has fair amount of room to do his own thing. If Andy says it's okay to do auction-style sale, then it's okay. :) There have been auctions in other hosted knifemaker forums. If anyone ever has questions about the rules, feel free to contact myself or any of the other mods as we'd be happy to answer your questions. The Tech Support forum is also available for questions.

Thanks!

Jason

let's not get side tracked. Auctions are good to go, I knew that going in. Now, back to digging up funds for Ben!

We got $275 from Nutramac. Thank you sir!

I'm in for $310. This is very cool of you esdunbar!!! Let's get the price up there!!!!!!

That little fat kid used to carry around a Wasp. But he got rid of it for a Bishop. Well, I have a Bishop as well. So I'll see his Bishop, and raise him to $320.

Now we got $320 from the dog who looks like mine after he pooped on the carpet and is hoping I didn't notice. :p
