All,

Posted the below in general forms. So far no responses addressed my questions about this specific folder so am posting it here also.

Thanks-Tim

"All,
Daughter in last year of High school. Looking at small folder that is reasonably strong and could be used in a pinch for self defense. This will be after High School and before starting college. Looked on line at CS tuff lite series. Mini or micro. Look like they'd be easy to hold onto not threatening to look at, especially in orange or pink. I've owned many CS folders in past. Not a bad value but locks stiff and hard to open and close.

Does anyone have opinion on these. Anyone know if locks are annoying to open/close? Any other folders I should be looking at?

Thanks-Tim "

The Tuff Lites are excellent for everyday chores, looks "sheeple friendly", and can definitely be used for self defense if needed. Works well in several grips and still sure in the hand. I gave a Mini Tuff Lite to my sister when they first came out, because she wanted something that could be used for SD if needed, but she works in an office environment where a larger knife would be frowned upon.

I got my daughter a purple Delica because I thought she would like it & actually carry it. Don't underestimate the "stopping power" of a Delica to the groin.

I have an orange Mini-Tuff, and it works quite well. The lockup started stiff but worked in a lot smoother after a month or two. The only issue is that there is still a fairly audible "click" as the lock engages that is really out of proportion to the size of the knife. I usually carry a Subcom for discrete carry and use, because of that, sometimes traded off with a yellow Dragonfly Salt. The H1 steel needs more steeling or sharpening, but it absolutely laughs off corrosion and blade gunk. That itty bity blade on the Mini-Tuff is basically a permanent box cutter instead of a disposable, making it a bit iffy for stuff like food prep and improvised SD weapon. If you think you can get away with the extra length (check your college rules, they will be different than city or state ordinances), the purple Delica is right in the sweet spot where versatile blade length and utility meets people-friendly. the Tuff is big enough to be equally useful, but I have always gotten the fisheye using a black-handled folder--might just be unlucky.
