hey guys, I posted a while back about getting a knife for my apprentice, well now he has half an idea of what he wants.

I'm looking for a nice hawkbill/wharnecliff style blade that incorporates a blade kick/flipper.

non assisted and preferably not a lock back.

blade length 3.5-4 inches and not a black blade.

other than that its a free range.

thanks for any help you can give

Although slightly smaller, I think your apprentice will appreciate the new Boker Subclaw (link here:. See the NEWS section -> Subcom Folder by Chad los Banos -> subclaw
It is a variation of Boker's most successfull Subcom (or the Biscuit) ;)

Dialex, I cant find where the Subclaw is available, but I have a Boker Trance and I find it a good pocket carry with minimal thickness. Only weakness of this design is the blade does not have enough mass for the flipper to work without a slight wrist flip.

Waldganger, the trance fits nearly all your requirements. Here is another that I have been looking at getting Kershaw Needwork, but its an assisted opener. So again its not what you really wants. Hmmmmm........

I cant really think of any claws or wharnie that fits all your conditions. I would also like to know if there is such an animal out there thats available.

emerson makes some wave designs that are nice with different blades

and if your looking for somthing way different spyderco has the p'kal which is a backward design check out ebay for emerson cqc serries like a cqc 7 etc

he is thinking of the P-SARK but I want some more options because I want something myself.
