knife for my dad

i wanted to get my dad a good fixed blade that can take a beating before he goes up to horseshoe island in Canada.i wanted to get him something between 4 an 8 inch blade. Also i want to spend under 60 because it will take a beating and get abused. also if anyone has been to horseshoe island and has any pics or anything that would be great. thanks
