Hey everyone! So i recently got a new job :)
And was thinking about celebrating with a new work knife.
I used to be a Barber. But Decided to switch and work at a salon doing both women and mens hair.

Anywho the work attire is all black.
So preferably an all blacked out knife handle and clip.(Hopefully it blends in lol)
Overall thickness of the knife, preferably on the thinner side.
Blade length - 4' to 3"in
Blade Steel - Super steels are not needed lol aus8/154cm is fine
Price - 100$ Trying to use this river gift card...
The knife is mostly going to be used to open packages and break down boxes. You would not believe how much freaking hair color, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, toilet paper, office supplies, random stuff is ordered on a weekly bases. On shipment days its like a mini warehouse in the back room with boxes piled to the ceiling....

Also whats a good small pepper spray I could recommend to the ladies at my work? Seems to be a rise of weirdos this time of year... Ive seen the ones at my local gun store but they're just a tad big for edc.

Thanks for the help!

Black/black Benchmade Griptilian. Great knife, meets all of your needs, price is right, axis lock is very cool, nice look and feel. Choice of blade shapes and steel. That would be my recommendation based on your post.

BTW, most on-line dealers will have a "code" to enter during checkout which will give you a substantial discount [Edit: when buying Benchmade knives]. For example, the dealer that I use most often sells the knife for one price. But once you enter the code, the price drops 25%. So - keep your eye open for the code and use it. Savings can be substantial.

Best of luck finding the right knife for your job.

A kershaw leek might be worth looking at. It comes in an all blacked out model, usually uses swedish steel (there is a S30v model), and is very thin on and comfortable in pocket. Thin blade and pointy tip makes it great for being a box knife. Nice strong assisted opening that works 100% of the time.

FYI, the blade tip and profile is very thin, so although it may be great for opening packages and breaking down boxes, you might lose a tip doing "hard work" with it.

Usually can be found for under $50 though, so big plus with that :p

Best of luck finding your knife buddy :)

Thanks for the input! And I think me and you are on the same page about this online dealer ;) haha I have them on my bookmark bar for speedy access.

I like the leek. I edc'd one for about a year and broke the tip off :/ But i did think about one. Especially now with the new fun colors.

I know exactly how you feel. I had bought a Kershaw Leek and someone decided it would be cool to take my knife while I was in the bathroom and stab it as hard as they could into the woodpanel ceiling. I didn't even own the knife for a week and the tip was snapped and bent. :(

If a leek was a bit dainty, try a blur (from Dave- aka kershawguy.com). You can get multiple blems for your budgeted amount. Also, if you want a knife you'll never notice, try a spyderco delica...2.5oz, and nice and flat.

All black kershaw skyline. Very thin and light, really smooth, and come with a pretty decent steel for around $50

Benchmade 530. You'll never know its there... 154cm, 3.25" spear point blade, great for opening boxes.

Spyderco Delica or a Kershaw Leek would seem perfect matches for your requirements.

A blackout spyderco tenacious would fit your need and save you almost $75 from your budget. A little more expensive (but still way under $100) would be an all black kershaw shallot, VERY thin knife for a frame lock.

I second the Benchmade Grip. Best knife for the money mentioned in this thread. Meets all of your criteria. The axis lock and 154CM steel alone justifies the purchase. I recommend the 555 version (with the spydie-hole and sheepsfoot blade; incredibly functional and easy to manipulate - outstanding slicer).

For cheap pepper spray, I recommend the ASP Palm Defender. Fits on a key chain, packs a heavy punch, and is very discrete.

Kershaw JunkYardDog 2.2 composite blade, 3.6" in D2 with textured G10 grip. Best thing out there for less than $100.
This is the #1 in my book for your buck. It will cut your boxes all week long.
