Knife for non-dominant hand...

So, yes, I am addicted to CRK's, not to the extent of some, but addicted none the less. Not a collector, but solely a user. I recently just purchased a small lefty regular sebenza even though I am right handed. It was just too good of a deal to pass up.

I know there are righty's on here that have lefty knives, but does anyone use them with their non-dominant hand? I question how soon will I be comfortable with using my new/used lefty knife with (obviously) my left hand? What is your experience? Good move or bad?

I don't normally flip knives or buy them to resell. My intended purpose is just to try something new and experiment. Hope this one doesn't cost me a finger.

Skip past the part about Mnandis, you can see how I open Sebenzas off-handed.

Thanks Wolfe! I have watched that video before and have used the center finger flick. Often I find myself opening my right handed 21s or regulars with the 'over-the-top left index finger method' I saw someone post about before (can't seem to locate the video but I am sure you know what I am refering to). Assuming you are left handed or ambidextrous, you use this to open your right handed knife left handed. If you are indeed left-handed, have you specifically purchased a right handed knife (I know you have tons of rh knives) for your right hand with the personal attempt at getting better using that hand with a proper handed knife?

I wonder if it's worth the extra money and time to just buy the proper directional knife for a persons non-dominant hand. My right handed CRK feels completely foreign in my left hand when trying to use it, of course, a lot of what I attempt to do with my let hand feels foriegn :o. Will a left handed CRK feel better in my left hand? I should hope so! Will it become natural to the point I feel comfortable using it when needed?

I found myself this last weekend purposely hanging from a tree stand by my right arm. I couldn't hold myself in position using my left arm, as it is not a strong as my right appendage, so here i am trying to get to my right pocket with my left arm, open it left and handed, and then I am attepting to use my right handed reg all catawampus to cut nylon tethers down and secure the tree stand with better rope. Needless to say, I felt like a monkey FAF. Then on Monday, I run into a fellow selling a small lefty reg for way cheap and it was like an omen.

I'm left handed challenged... I need to work on this Sebbie flip.

Plus using my Cocobolo old nick just doesn't feel right... why did I let the precious slip away. ;)

I have a lefty Umnumzaan that I carry in a nylon belt sheath on my right side. It of course has a double lug on it, but I can position the sheath anywhere on my belt I want it and can in doing so easily deploy the knife right- or left-handed. Fast, easy, and it works. BTW, I am rh.

I'm ambidextrous. Unlike what many people believe, that doesn't mean 'both-handed'. It means that either hand could be the dominant on any given task. Or both could be or neither. In the case of knife use, I do favor the left hand. I have some lefty CRK's, and a few righty's too. I don't seek a specific hand for what I collect, but almost always end up with rightys. Both knives are rightys, just because they are the ones I want to carry. One came as a user, the other has an invalid birth card. The Mnandi I plan to start carrying is a no-doc. I can open them all with either hand. You'll get good at it too with a little practice.

T saw that Regular you stole, congrats!

Whelp, my lefty showed up Saturday. Bought it on a whim cause I believed it to be super cheap for a reg. Sellers pictures were pretty bad and I had no idea what exactly I was getting into as far as condition or even the legitamcy of the knife as their were no box or papers. The good news its legit. Super excited when I opened the package and it had grooved edges which matches my small rh regular. Date codes are from first quarter 03 and blade is stamped s, so I think that all is correct... Correct? Not sure about the flat clip for the time period 03 but I can look more into that. I actually like the flat clip as it matches its brother.
Anyway, to the non-dominant experiment. Feels great actually. Much more normal than holding my righties left handed. Used it today to cut away a bunch of fabric on a seat cushion, peel a minutes old potato for a snack, and open a couple boxes for recycling. Not as confident in my moves but hopefully it will come quick.
Oh, I did forget how painful the stud was on my thumb for the first few days. I remember now!
