well... i feel compelled to spend some money i just got on a knife... i just bought a kershaw avalanche the other day and am thinking of buying a bowie... and now that I have more money ive got another potential knife... something under $50 - what are some great knives you guys have come across - lockback, liner lock, fixed blade.. little , huge .. i don't care.. just start a list - Thanks!

i thought about the calypso jr. also - not a huge fan of most spydie's except for the para millies - haven't seen those ek ones - I like those alot, except for where they say commando or night fighter on them... but i could easily grind that off i guess .....

Spyderco Delica, Endura, Native, Calypso Jr.
Kershaw Leek
Sog Twitch II
Bechmade min-griptilian (probably a hair under $50)

A Ka-Bar is also under 50, so far ppl have been recomending folders, but a Ka-Bar is a fun knife for aobut 40 bux, with a little work you can sharpen the false edge clip point too.

Most of my knives cost under $50 apiece and I have 140 or so. It's too tough to recommend a specific knife unless you can be more specific what you're looking for. My recommendation, sit on the fifty bucks and wait for something that really catches your eye. And your $50 will go much farther if you watch for close-outs/specials/sales.

Here are some things that "caught my eye" lately:
- Smoky Mountain Knife Works ( www.eknifeworks.com ) has a good selection of Old Timer pocket knives at discounted prices.
- The cover of the most recent AG Russell catalog is hunting knives from Finland, beginning at $24.
- Opinel gift set, ten knives in a display box for $60.

I'm sure you'll find something. :)

A lot of good knives out there for <$50. Camillus: Heat,Sizzler,EDC. Becker: BK-7,BK-11. Kershaw: Chives,Scallion,Leek. I have most of these knives and they are all well worth their price and then some and make great users.

I like the Spyderco Centifonte III for just under $50. Nice clean lines, neat little spyder logo on the handle, great price if not unbelievable price these days for an ATS34 blade and a sure thing to be a collector piece in the future with Franks name attatched to it. I also like the plain edge. Great value there IMO for a folder under $50. And made in the USA too!

Note: I'm a bit confused as to why one add says it is an ATS34 blade and the other says VG10. Either way both are great steels though.

Hmmm.....under $50.00

1. Ka_Bar Dozier Folder (under $20.00)
2. Benchmade Mini-Griptilian (under $50.0 if you search a little)
3. Buck 110 (The best 29.99 you will ever spend)
4. Queen Folding Hunter in Carved Stag Bone with D2 steel

Ka-Bar Dozier folder or Benchmade Mini Pika both under 20 bucks. For that matter buy one of each.

For $52.11 you can get a Spyderco Native from New Graham. Made in the USA, has S30V steel (often found on knives costing twice or three times as much), great ergonomics, and a reliable lock back.

Hard to beat this for value - found quite easily for under $45

I know just by asking I am gonna end up odering one, but what's your opinion of the Pika and Mini-Pika???

I've never seen either, are they any good?

1. Spyderco Calypso Jr.
2. Spyderco Native
3. Spyderco Delica

Spyderco has a great line up that is at or under $50 street price.

Get a khukuri from Himilayan Imports. http://www.himalayan-imports.com/
In the manufacturers forum, here on BladeForums, go to the Hilayan Imports forum. Three or four times a week they offer khukuris at prices that are discounted from what you will find on their website, some for under $50. Prices include shipping, too.
Some very cool knives.

I just bought a Victorinox Super Tinker in black onyx from New Graham for around $18 (Christmas special). I think their regular price is around $26. I bought it at first because I thought it would make a nice gift to a friend, but I think I'll keep it - a lot of nice tools in a small package! Definately more pocket friendly (weight-wise) than the Leatherman that I usually carry instead.

Wish I'd bought one of these sooner - it may become EDC :)

lets see...

I've been looking at the mini griptillian's for a while now, also the kershaw leek. Also have some friends with the big ass ka-bar fighting knives - I like those... hadn't really thought about the ka-bar folders.... I always just thought of those fighting knives when someone said ka-bar - same thing with camillus. I like the spyderco centifonte III, calypso jr., and the native gen 1 (don't really like the handle on the gen III). That stag handle queen d2 knife is nice too. Already have a nice swiss army knife.... dunno what model - one I've had forever. actually kind of been thinking of a khukuri, although I'm afraid I would chop off my leg or something with a blade like that.... - Thanks for all the suggestions!
