My wife is actively learning to do performance sailing. This is high skilled sailing in the ocean/large lake and includes racing. I would like to buy her a knife she can open with one hand and cut a heavy rope quickly in the event of an emergency. Looking for something under $100. What would you recommend?

I think Reagan was still Prez when I sold my sailboat. I finally got a pair of decent Buck 315's as sailer's knives - then these two, a Victorinox Mariner 'Skipper' and the more appropriate Myerchin B300 'Offshore', also available serrated as the B300P - usually ~$102, but often sold direct for a decent discount this time of year. Now I have sailor's knives - and no boat!

Well, they don't require periodic bottom painting, insurance, monthly wet moor payment, etc. The skeletonized SAK 'marlinspike' looks hokey - but works. Also, it's wave-like serrations cut lines more aggressively.

Merry Christmas!
